Brendan is an enthusiastic follower of Dionysus. Brendan believes that sarcasm is the purest form of communication. Brendan enjoys referring to himself in the third person. Brendan believes in good scotch, that Zinfandel should always be red, that pasta should always be from scratch, that music sounds better when its louder, that wine tastes better in a chipped coffee mug and that you should open your Christmas presents on Christmas day, not Christmas eve. After graduating from Cal Poly SLO, Brendan worked as Co-Winemaker for David Coffaro Winery in Dry Creek for 9 years before starting Periscope Cellars in 2005 and his bar, Deep Roots Oakland in 2011. Brendan spends his free time fighting “The Man”, “The Establishment” and “Big Brother”.
